This is truly terrible. Why would so many people KILL these beautiful cats for their fur? They will soon go extinct because of these peoples stupid actions, and only a few people will care.

Someone should take in two of them and breed them so the population can grow.
Its sad and depressing if you think about it. :'(

The problem with that is...if you take in two of ANY creature really to breed....and you breed them in captivity (which is your best bet for breeding so you know the animals and their cubs will be safe)...people tend to breed the wild instincts out of them...due to being born in captivity and humans interacting with them so much and giving them already dead animals, they just can't learn to hunt that way and even worse they start to be fearless around humans...making them easier targets for poachers...so they usually can NOT release them into the wild because they would not know how to survive. (however SOME places do not interact with the animals and give them live animals....however i think i have only heard of two places that do that....other than a few zoo's in i think China? that feed the animals live prey daily so the animals can still be wild and keep their instincts....unfortunately people that visit [American's] tend to panic and freak out seeing Chinese Zoo's do this/....it is quite stupid of people to freak out because They are just doing what is best for the WILD animals). Now unless someone would place them into a Wild Life reserve in their own environment closed off from other PREDATORS than that might work considering that no human would ACTUALLY be around them breeding them and they can do so on their own and raise their cubs like they would naturally in the wild....a huge area for them of course with plenty of prey but no predators. However that is just My thinking...

There have been and currently are a handful of organizations for protecting them. Are they a popular matter of concern outside of those groups? No. Its the wolves. The weak-minded, tenacious, overpopulated WOLF. Or as they say, "SAV TEH WOLFSZSZ!1"
Also, do not neglect the Amur Tiger. They are Endangered as well. Approximately 500 remain in the wild.

There isn't a wolf overpopulation. But while wolves are my favorite species I agree that more species need help.

Beautiful but completely haunting and sad! It's sad to think that there are so few left in the wild anymore, its sad to think about all the seriously endangered animals this way too but it seems not enough people care anymore about them to save them no matter how hard some try!

very well-done piece! It is terribly sad to think that there are so few left in the wild anymore. We used to have a pair at my local AZA-accredited zoo which were part of the Species Survival Plan for captive specimens, but the male developed cancer and passed away two years ago. I'm planning to get a tattoo of his rosette pattern across my shoulders to commemorate him by.
